A 21-year-old German backpacker may lose her limbs after the car she was travelling in crashed in the Northern Territory.
Police said the car left the road and hit dirt before rolling several times, ending up on its roof, about 70km north of Tennant Creek.
Investigators added that the car had been travelling south in the left lane when the 23-year-old driver, also a German woman, lost control at 100km/h.
The driver and a Taiwanese tourist in the car escaped with minor injuries. A 21-year-old Swedish man received several bruises and cuts.
The younger German woman suffered severe injuries to her left arm, leg and foot.
