The giant croc moves into his new home
An 18-foot (5.5 metre) saltwater crocodile has been introduced to his new home in Darwin’s Crocosaurus Cove.
The yet-to-be-named salty arrived at the CBD tourist attraction via truck and crane, with traffic on Mitchell Street needing to be stopped to let the giant croc in.
The three-legged crocodile was transferred from the Northern Territory’s Darwin Crocodile Farm, where it had been for a year, after he was deemed too aggressive for his female companions in the farm’s breeding programme.

The massive salty is yet to be given a name
He will be the largest croc on show at the popular tourist spot on Darwin’s main street, which has become internationally famous for its Cage of Death attraction, which allows travellers to cage dive with the massive reptiles.
“Crocodile Bruce had to give up his pen for him and was taken back to the croc farm and some of the other crocodiles at the cove had to swap pens to welcome the new mate in his new home,” Crocosaurus Cove spokeswoman Dana Moses told the NT News.
“Although they are such big, vicious creatures, they are like little babies and the longer you work with the crocs the more you can see the puppy dog side of them,” she added.
A local competition has been launched to name the croc, which will be announced at his official welcome party on October 4.
