Victoria's 12 Apostles
Reports that another of the 12 Apostles rock formations had crumbled into the sea have been dismissed by Parks Victoria.
When a tour group came across a pile of rubble when exploring Victoria’s popular Great Ocean Road, they were convinced that another of the remaining eight limestone pillars had succumbed to the elements.
However, Parks Victoria has now released a statement insisting the fallen rock stack was in fact part of a separate group known as the Three Sisters.
The statement said: “Nature is constantly shaping and reshaping it.
“Erosion is a significant issue in the area and creates the striking features for which this limestone coastline is known. So there will always be many wonderful sights for visitors.”
The last fall in the area was as recent as July, when the Island Archway in the Loch Ard Gorge precinct and Man’s Head at Croft’s Bay collapsed.
