Korean backpackers Minseok Kim and Gyeonghwa An
Two dead bodies, believed to be those of Korean backpackers missing for a week, have been found in a Hyundai car submerged in an irrigation channel.
The bodies have not been officially identified yet, however police believe them to be Minseok Kim, 25, and Gyeonghwa An, 26, who had been working as fruit pickers on a farm at Stanbridge, near Griffith, New South Wales.
The pair had been reported missing when they failed to turn up for work last Thursday. They had last been seen leaving the farm at 3am in a gold Hyundai car, after spending several hours drinking with six other Korean backpackers. They left without their passports, mobile phones and wallets.
Mr Kim had been in Australia for several months, according to police. However, Ms An had only arrived from Korea with a friend last week, and only met Mr Kim the night before they disappeared.
Police conducted an extensive search for six days, concentrating on the irrigation channels than run parallel to the roads. The car was found at 1.30pm yesterday and has been removed for forensic examination.
