The Bungle Bungles
I’ve been to Uluru, but what other Outback classics are there to see?

Considering the Outback is not only freakishly massive, but also what makes Australia so unique, there’s no shortage of stuff to explore.
First up, if you liked Uluru then you’ll love the Bungle Bungle range (pictured).
Only discovered by outsiders in the 1980s, these bizarre beehive domes in WA’s Kimberley region are arguably better than Uluru, but without the crowds.
Perhaps the best way to delve into the Outback is through a classic roadtrip, like SA’s Oodnadatta Track or the Birdsville Track to Queensland.
If you make it to Birdsville, don’t miss the races in early September, one of the crazier events you’re likely to find Down Under.
Other Outback highlights to consider are towns like underground mining Coober Pedy (SA) used as the backdrop for many a film, including Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome or Kalgoorlie (WA).
Other bizarre desert sights we’d recommend include Wave Rock (WA), Karijini National Park (WA) and the Walls of China in remote Mungo National Park, New South Wales.
