Jamie Neale in Sydney recently
The father of British backpacker Jamie Neale missing in the Blue Mountains has flown to Australia to help in the search for his son.
Richard Cass flew to Sydney yesterday (Wednesday) as the hunt continued for 19-year-old, who has not been seen since Friday.
Police believe the teenager, from Muswell Hill, London, left his hostel in the town of Katoomba for a walk.
A New South Wales police spokesman said officers found Mr Neale’s mobile phone at the hostel.
Police rescue teams, dog handlers and firefighters have all joined the hunt but bad weather has prevented an aerial search.
Police are trying to trace a Canadian backpacker, Mathew Cayes, who they believe may have spoken to Mr Neale before he left.
It is believed he could have vital information about the route he planned to take.
Anyone who might have seen Jamie since Friday 3 July or have information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Blue Mountains Police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
