The Great Barrier Reef
Time is running out to vote for the “New 7 Wonders of Nature”. The polls closes today (July 7) and Tourism Australia is asking everyone to get online and vote for Australia’s two nominations, Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef.
Once all the votes come in, the top 77 finalists will be assessed and narrowed down to 21. Then the next and final round of voting starts.
Don’t worry if you’ve already voted in the first round. Everyone is allowed to vote again every phase. Ulluru and the Reef are among 261 qualifiers from 222 countries.
Currently, Uluru is in eighth place in the Caves and Rock Formations category while the Great Barrier Reef is holding on to third place in the Seascape division.
Without more votes these two Australian landmarks will not make it to the next round. Inclusion in the New 7 Wonders of Nature will guarantee they will be preserved for years to come.
Finalists will be announce in July 21, so get out and vote to show your pride in your Australian hotspots.
