Ben Southall on Hamilton Island
The man given the so-called best job in the world – to get paid a heap of cash to chill out and promote a stunning tropical island – has apparently blundered on his second day, by calling his new home by the wrong name.
Englishman Ben Southall posted a message on Twitter which read: “Leaving the chefs table and chocolate room on Hayward Island after a stunning gastronomic presentation.”
The problem being he was actually on Hayman Island.
The mistake was corrected within a couple of hours, but not before a few viewers had spotted the error and commented online.
However, whether or not the mistake was simply the latest intentional move in a supremely well-oiled publicity campaign can only be guessed at – the only thing for sure is that a whole lot more people now know the name Hayman Island.
The 34-year-old beat almost 37,000 other applicants to land the $150,000 Great Barrier Reef caretaker job, based in Queensland’s Whitsunday Islands, which will last for six months.

I get the feeling it was a publicity stunt. Smart. I need to start doing things like that to get people to my blog:)
