The search for missing Irish backpacker Niall McDonough has been called off after a body was washed up at Brunswick Heads at the weekend.
McDonough, 30, went missing from a Byron Bay backpacker hostel on June 12.
A police spokeswoman told the Northern Star the body had not been identified, but there was a “strong possibility” it was the missing man.
Investigations continue into the cause of death.
