The family of missing backpacker Niall McDonough have arrived in Australia to help police in Byron Bay search for the Irishman.
The 30-year-old’s parents, brother and sister have all travelled to the New South wales coastal town.
Niall McDonough was last seen by his girlfriend a week ago, on Friday June 12, at about 9pm, when he left a hostel in Middleton Street, Byron Bay, to go for a walk.
He did not return, and the next morning some of his belongings were found on a park bench near the Cape Byron Lighthouse.
An extensive air, land and sea search has failed to find any trace of the Irishman and Police say they are also concerned because Mr McDonough suffers from a medical condition which needs regular treatment.
He is described as being of white/European appearance, 170cm tall with a thin build, shaved red hair and blue eyes.
He was last seen bare-chested and wearing grey jeans with a Billabong belt and runners.
The police are not saying whereabout in Ireland he is from.
