I’m planning a roadtrip up the west coast from Perth to Darwin. What should I see? I have two weeks. Michelle Denne, via email.

The Kimberley's Bungle Bungle Range
Firstly, bravo. Not enough people make it over to the west coast – in my view the best Australian coastal trip you can do.
Secondly, two weeks is barely enough for Western Australia – you’d want the best part of a week to explore the Kimberley alone, plus you’re skipping the luscious south west too.
But you probably didn’t get in touch to be told off, so…
I would save a little more time for the top half of WA – you’d want at least a day in Karijini National Park as well as the Kimberley – and don’t forget distances are huge. Broome is a great spot to relax, recharge the batteries and take in a magical sunset.
Just north of Perth, the Pinnacles are a bizarre site, the friendly wild dolphins of Monkey Mia are worth stopping off for, even if it does get busy.
The Ningaloo Reef meanwhile is arguably the equal of the Great Barrier Reef without all the crowds and the long boat-ride – it pretty much starts at the shore. Even if it isn’t whale shark season (April-July), the marine life is astonishing; giant manta rays, dolphins, turtles and the like.
I’m pretty certain you’re about to have the time of your life.
